In his fourth year of coaching for OKM, Jacob will be stepping up to the head coach role! Jacob is graduating from LBSS, where he is a four-year member of the varsity tennis team. He has played for OKM for ten years and also competes at Burke Racquet Club and in USTA tennis tournaments. Jacob's broad experience allows him to be a fantastic coach for kids of all ages, and we welcome him back in this new role!
William is a 12-year veteran of the OKM tennis program and returns for his second year as an assistant coach. He is a junior at LBSS, where he is a lefty pitcher for the varsity baseball team. He also competes in USTA tennis events. William is active in Scouting, where he’s a Life Scout working towards Eagle Scout, and he has worked at Goshen Scout Reservation. William says OKM tennis has changed his life in a positive way, and he wants to share that experience with the OKM players!
Rebecca has been a member of OKM for many years and has played for the OKM team competing in NVTL matches. She is a junior at LBSS and plays on the varsity tennis team. Rebecca trains year round at the tournament level with APlus Tennis at Burke Racquet Club. When not playing tennis, she is busy with school and orchestra. Rebecca brings great character to the position and is a wonderful role model. We are excited to have her as the new addition to this year’s coaching staff!
OKM is pleased to have Gordon Lee as Program Director again this summer! Mr. Lee started coaching at OKM in 1983 and has over 40 years of experience in total. He was selected as USTA’S Mid Atlantic Professional Coach of the Year in 2003, and the USTA Magazine has featured him and the OKM Tennis Program. Mr. Lee was also one of five coaches selected as the National Coach of the Year by Stanford University's Positive Coaches Alliance Program. Mr. Lee will conduct the player evaluations. He will also run varsity tennis practices for those aspiring to play high school and college-level tennis.
Beth has been a member of OKM for seven years, and her children have participated in both swim and tennis. She became the Girls Tennis Team Rep in 2016 and became Tennis Rep and OKM Board Liaison in 2017. Beth's been selected to serve as Juniors Vice President for the NVTL, the league in which OKM competes. In this role, she works with clubs in the area, including OKM, to promote fun and competition in youth tennis. Beth is a member of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and has played USTA League mixed doubles. She also plays on the OKM Women's Tennis Team and helps coordinate OKM's Friday Night Adult Tennis Socials. In addition to volunteering at OKM, she is also the team manager for the Burke Athletic Club U12 Girls Soccer Team and team parent for the Lake Braddock Varsity Baseball Team. Beth, her husband John, and three kids, Jay, Natalie, and Lindsey, along with their dog, Harper, have lived in Cherry Run since 2010.
