OKM is excited to have Evan Downs return in 2026 for his fourth season as OKM Head Coach! OKM is coming off of a historic 2025 season where the Ospreys won two meets in Division 1, nearly took down Chesterbrook in a thrilling 2-point contest, and were winning All Star Relays halfway through the meet when it called off for weather!
Evan started coaching for OKM in 2018 and served as a volunteer coach, Junior Coach, Winter Swim Coach, Lead Mini Osprey Coach, and Lead Assistant Coach. During his time as an OKM coach, Evan has seen OKM rise from Division 11 all the way to Division 1.
As Head Coach, Evan has guided the largest team in OKM history. He led OKM to an undefeated Division 2 championship season in 2023, followed by OKM’s first ever season in Division 1, where the team finished 4th in the entire NVSL at the 2024 All Star Relay Championships. During his three seasons as Head Coach, Osprey swimmers have broken more than 60 individual and relay team records.
Evan did not begin swimming until he joined OKM at age 13, but he quickly developed tremendous enthusiasm for both the sport and the team. He later swam club at FBST, though summer league has always been his true passion. Evan began swimming at OKM in 2015 when the team was in Division 15, and he participated in the team climbing to a higher division every year. He has been part of OKM’s long run of success and has an intimate knowledge of all of the team’s traditions.
In addition to his OKM work, Evan is currently coaching with NCAP-Burke and the Lake Braddock varsity team. Evan has also taught extensively at Kids First Swim School and was a member of the LBSS State Championship baseball team in 2019. He graduated from West Virginia University and is now a Fairfax County teacher.

OKM is excited to welcome Rome back to the Senior Staff as an Assistant Coach for 2026.
Rome joined OKM in 2021 at age 15 and made an immediate impact with tremendous spirit and strong performances in the pool. In his first season, he was honored with the teamwide Spirit Award and later became an All Star Relays qualifier. He was also part of an OKM medley relay team record in 2023. Before moving to Burke, Rome swam for a club team in Alaska. After relocating, he continued his club career with NCAP and went on to serve as a Captain of the Lake Braddock Varsity Swim Team, where he was a Regional and District qualifier.
Rome previously served as an OKM Junior Coach for two years and has also been a Winter Swim Coach, building strong relationships with our younger swimmers and helping develop the next generation of Ospreys.
Rome will be a senior at the University of Utah in the fall. We are thrilled to have him back on deck for another great Osprey season.
Charlotte is an OKM lifer who started as a Mini Osprey in 2011 and swam her 15th and final season last summer! For many years, Charlotte has been a Junior Coach, Minis Coach, and Winter Swim Coach. This will be her first summer as an OKM Asst. Coach and her second season as Lead Mini Osprey Coach. Charlotte is known for a quick smile and positive energy, but she's also one of the most decorated swimmers in OKM history! She was honored as the OKM “Osprey of the Year” in 2021 and is a 7-time NVSL Indv. All-Star who broke more than 35 OKM Indv. & Relay Team Records over the years. Last summer Charlotte was the first-ever OKM swimmer to be awarded an NVSL League scholarship for graduating seniors. She finished her OKM career last summer as the anchor leg of the NVSL League Champion mixed age girls relay and as the silver medal finisher in 50 fly at All-Stars. Charlotte swam for NCAP for 12 years, and was Team Captain of the LBSS varsity team, where she was the Occoquan Region runner-up in 100 fly senior year and a VA State Meet qualifier all four years. Charlotte is now a rising sophomore and NCAA D2 swimmer at Florida Southern College, where she is pursuing a nursing degree.
Caroline joined OKM in 2021 and immediately became a key part of the team in both swimming and spirit! In addition to being named OKM Rookie of the Year in 2021, she has been a 3-time NVSL All-Star Relays qualifier and has been part of multiple OKM relay team records. Caroline does club swimming with the Makos Swim Team and was Team Captain of the LBSS varsity team, where she has qualified for both the Occoquan Regional Meet and the Patriot District Meet. Caroline has been a Mini Ospreys coach and Winter Swim coach for many years. This will be Caroline’s third season as a Junior Coach, and we welcome her back to the OKM coaching staff!
Ryan started swimming competitively at the age of 4 for teams in Texas before coming to Burke. Ryan joined OKM in 2022 and quickly made a name for himself by qualifying for NVSL All-Stars, All-Star Relays, and breaking team records in 13-14 fly and multiple relays. Ryan does club swimming for NCAP and is on the Lake Braddock Varsity team where he has qualified for the Occoquan Regional Meet and the Patriot District Meet. Ryan has been a Winter Swim and Mini Osprey coach for OKM for many years and returns for his second season as an OKM Junior Coach!
Paige started swimming in the NVSL at age 4 with the Riverside Gardens Mini Tsunamis. Her family moved to Missouri where she continued to swim and began club swimming at age 7. Paige came to OKM in 2019 when her family relocated back to Northern Virginia. Paige continues to be a club swimmer with NCAP and is a member of the LBSS varsity team. Paige has been a Mini Ospreys coach and Winter Swim coach for many years. We welcome Paige to the OKM coaching staff!
Team Reps
We're excited to announce Ayron Myers as Head Team Rep for 2026! Ayron's family has been active in OKM swimming since 2018. He and his wife, Erin, have one swimmer on the team. Ayron is an active OKM Board Member and part of the Swim Officials group volunteering at meets since 2023. Prior to accepting the head team rep role for 2026 Ayron had volunteered with Katie Bailey as co-assistants in 2025 and coordinated team merch since 2021.
We're happy to announce Karen Carlson as OKM Asst. Swim Rep! Karen and her husband, Jay, have three swimmers on the team and have been active participants at OKM since they moved to Burke here in 2015!
