2025 Mini Ospreys & Evening Minis

Evening Mini Ospreys is full and closed for new registrations.  We have opened a wait list.  You can email Sue Rizzardi [email protected] if you would like to join the wait list.

The Mini Ospreys program is part of the OKM Swim Team, but it's designed for novice swimmers aged 8 and younger who are not ready for the regular team. Minis are taught in small groups in shallow water, and this is a terrific introduction to the swim team.  

Mini Ospreys swimmers have the opportunity to participate in short “lollipop races” before they are able to complete a full 25 meters of swimming.  Our goal is to have these swimmers compete in a 25-meter race by the end of the season and to potentially move up to the regular team the following summer.

Mini Ospreys starts on the first Monday after school is out.  Fees are the same as regular swim team.

Mini Ospreys Eligibility Requirements

Swimmers must be aged 3-8 as of June 1.  Swimmers must be able to put their face in the water and float.  They must also be comfortable being in the water away from their parents and able to follow directions in a group setting.  For beginners who are not ready for Minis, many coaches and lifeguards offer private lessons at OKM.

All new swimmers will be evaluated on the first day of practice, so feel free to bring children for an evaluation if you’re unsure about their swimming ability.

2025 Schedule

• June 16 - July 18 (5 weeks):  Minis practice is 30 min. every day (Monday-Friday).
• There are two sessions each day:  9:00-9:30AM and 9:30-10:00AM.  We will try to accommodate all time preferences but we will need to have equal number of swimmers in each session.  

**Thursday, July 17:  Mini Olympics -- an informal "meet" during practice time where we try to have all Minis swim a full 25-meter race (with assistance if necessary).

**Friday, July 18:  Last day of practice -- the Mini Ospreys Awards Party (also during practice time)

We will have 2-3 opportunities at Home swim team B-meets for lollipop races.  Please stay tuned for dates.

Evening Minis

June 15 - July 17 -- 3 nights per week (Sun/Tues/Thurs) at 6:45-7:15PM.
**We have to cap the number of Evening Minis participants, so please sign up early if you're interested. 

No Evening Minis on June 17 due to home dive meet.  Will hold evening Minis on Wednesday June 18.

No Evening Minis on July 8 due to a home dive meet.

No Evening Minis on July 15 due to a home dive meet.  Will hold Evening Minis on July 16.
